Stratford Public Art | Sculpture by David Luxford

David Luxford

The town of Stratford had a rather peculiar public art trail. Scattered through out town, seemingly, without rhyme or reason is a series of 8 sculptures with a Shakespearian theme.

This sculpture by David Luxford was so random. From down the street I believed this to be a real person. As I got closer and the hat came into focus I withdrew from the car wondering what in the tar-nations was I looking at.

The fiberglass and concrete sculpture is titled 'Do You See What I See'  and it depicts a figure named Boran who, with shielded eyes, appears to be looking for something. The sculptures description invites the viewer to question whether Boran is looking into the distance or perhaps into the future.

The faces that appear in the wall below Boran are casts from the artists who worked on the project. Luxfords' addition to the 'Shakespeare Through the Ages' art trail is one of the more stranger sculptures I've ever come across and can be found near the Stratford Football Ground.
