Belconnen's favorite penis shaped owl!

Look closely! Do you see it? It's probably not what Bruce Armstrong intended when designing his owl tribute for Belconnen but this sculpture, one of Canberra's most prominent BIG Things, has been nicknamed 'The Penis Owl' It's simply titled 'Owl' though and it was created in 2011 based off the Australian Powerful Owl Ninox Strenua. The BIG owl is positioned in the middle of a median strip on the Corner of Belconnen Way & Benjamin Way. Parking's a bit rough for this area so I'd strongly suggest parking at 6 Ware Pl, Belconnen. It's a 30 second walk to the sculpture and a safe place to park.

Christmas Break - See you next year!!

It's that time of year again and I'm putting the finishing touches on the annual interstate Christmas road trip. We leave on the 14th of Dec and should get back home around the 13th of January 2025 where I'll resume a long over due catch up from last years road trip. This years trip will be a special one. I didn't appreciate street Art when i went through South Australia back in 2018 and get to make up for that this trip. Thanks to the incredibly hard work of Calli M & especially Briggs Jourdan, fellow Street Art Cities contributors, I have an amazing Adelaide map full of content to follow This years migration consists of 416 items - 18 painted water tanks - 7 water towers - 13 Silos and roughly 378 street art locations. 243 of those belong to Adelaide itself. I've had limited time to prepare for this trip so extra thankful for the help. I look forward to somewhat catching up next year Merry Christmas, Megan

Brisbane CBD | Arnaldo Pomodoro

Arnaldo Pomodoro This sculpture gained a lot of recognition from non art appreciators thanks to the more modern Dr Who tv series. The sculpture is titled 'Forme del Mito' It's a set of four bronze sculptures all representing an element, in this case, a person from an ancient Greek myth... from the bronze age! I grew up reading a lot! I loved mythology so this sculpture was a no brainer when it came to picking a favourite. Let me set some context! The myth starts with the wedding of Peleus (the King of Phthia) and Thetis (a sea nymph and one of 50 daughters of a primordial God, Nereus. Nereus was the offspring of Gaia (Earth) and her son Pontus (a sea deity) This probably isn't important to the story but since Gaia is the grandmother of our Olympian Gods you can imagine when an offspring gets married the entire family gets invited, including all the Gods and Goddess's Except one.. Eris the Goddess of Discord.. Feeling slighted Eris gifted the couple a golden apple...
