You see carousels all the time in movies. The first time I saw this it was lit up and children were playing. I've since been back during Covid and the city center just doesn't have the same feeling without this bright and vibrant piece of history active.
It was built by Herber Thompson and in 1973 the people of Canberra purchased it for $40,000.
It was placed in Petrie Plaza in 1974 and there it has stayed ever since delighting the towns children and parents alike
